Bought these shoes in 1990's and wore them almost daily in class till I retired in 2012. Showed no sign of wear and still took a Marine Corp spit polish that was dazzling. Sadly, this morning , when i put them on the soles cracked on both shoes from one side to the other. They are one of the best investments I have ever made and shall indeed replace them with another pair.
Not quite a Seawalker but darn close.
If you, like many long time Ecco customers, are looking for a replacement for your aging, discontinued Seawalkers this is a close call. It's more an actual heeled shoe and less like the tied loafer style of the Seawalker. A little stiffer overall design but still quite comfortable. Slightly wide toe box like the earlier shoe. Nice, soft leather upper and inner lining. The sole material seems a little less soft and pliable. More of a harder rubberized composite. Still, after two days of breaking in at the office I'd say this is a success and well worth trying. These are made in southeast Asia not Europe but the construction quality at least appears to be at normal ECCO standards. I don't know if these will last like the usual 5 to 10 years of the Seawalker but I'm hopeful to get at least a couple of good years.
Came back for these
The first salesperson I worked with showed these to me but I was looking for something dressier. I kept thinking about how stylish and comfortable they were and came back a day or two later to buy them to wear with more casual outfits. I LOVE these shoes, they have given me another reason to look forward to the weekend!
I think that this shoe is great went back got a second pair.
Shoe is versatile.
The ECCO shoes can be worn with casual and dress-casual attire. It looks good and feels comfortable. I've had this brand and style of shoe previously and am overall very pleased with it. The downside is that over time the stitching on the upper leather will loosen and break at the front of the shoe above the toes. I believe this is a result of scraping the top of the shoe when moving my foot from gas pedal to break pedal when driving.
