I have cervical, thoracic and lumbar pain and this item works wonders in just a few minutes a day. I can instantly feel a release of pressure. I've used it on my mattress during extra sensitive days, which decreases the impact. Moving the back stretcher just an inch at a time helps me locate and target the problem areas.

The StretchMate is my second back arch. After an acute back strain I had chronic back pain and sciatica for years. I did the MRI, doctors, meds, therapy and I was good for a day but woke up so stiff I could hardly move. I had a sense that I needed to stretch backward to relieve the pinched nerves but NO one mentioned that might help. It was always "sleep with knees bent, pillow between" I finally saw my first back bridge and bought it. I can't say - WOW that was great at first. It hurt like Chinese torture. Later I learned that this pain was the force of stretching out the muscles that had been in a knot for so long. Gradually as I forced myself to relax on the arch for 5-10 minutes the pain subsided, muscles stretched ((Use the tapered side under the small of your back first, Then the steeper arch can be tolerated. Put a folded towel or thin pillow on it at first. You can use a pillow under your head if necessary and ROLL off don't sit straight up!). Yes the pain returned but I did the stretch several times a day and in about 3 months my back was fine - and the referred pain in my feet stopped! I use it whenever I have even a twinge and of course daily before bed. Of course you have to do some exercises to strengthen the back. That MRI I had said I had a compressed vertebrae as well as some collapsed disks, they didn't go away but now I am a Ballroom dancer without pain!!!!! Any time my friends have a back spasm I recommend it and got an extra so they will try it. No body paid me for this Ad either!

I've found the Stretchmate to really work well for me. It gives me an even stretch that relaxes my back. I was using my countertop to stretch my back but without lasting results. I was a little confused as to which way to use it because the directions say "gentler curve close to bottom" but the picture you have on the website shows opposite.

I am wary of products promising benefits that are not researched and documented. However, I decided to try this product in an attempt to relieve pain from arthritis in my back and neck. To my surprise, it does seem to help. I wear a robe or sweatshirt for a little padding, and place the highest arch at the point of pain. Just a few minutes seems to give relief. I would recommend this product.
