Features & Benefits of Shin Ice:

  • When refrigerated, the cold packs in the sleeve help reduce inflammation, swelling and pain.
  • The neoprene firmly supports the lower leg muscles and soft tissue.
  • The combination of cold therapy and compression helps relieve muscle strain, shin splints or posterior tibial syndrome.

Other Important Information About Shin Ice:

  • Use product for 15 to 20 minutes, 4 to 6 times per day.
  • Material Content: neoprene, cryopack ice pocket.
  • Care: Hand wash and air dry.

Such a simple, but great idea. It's so hard to ice your shins any other way. Before I bought these, I tried ice packs held on with Saran wrap, but usually just had to sit still. With these you can move around while icing your shins. They get cold quick and stay cold for just enough time.

As a distance runner in high school, I was plagued by shin splints (and some stress fractures) each season. I always did what the trainers told me: toe taps, ice, heel walks, and orthotics -- but none of them worked. A few years out of high school now (and not doing much running since), I started training again 3 weeks ago. Within 50 miles of training, my shin splints were already back, and had progressed enough that they hurt when I walk. I bought this ice sleeve and theCho-Pat compression sleeves, and, while this is an admittedly early review (only 30 miles of training with them thus far), I have had no shin pain while running. I use the Cho-Pats on the run, wear compression socks the rest of the day otherwise, and I ice regularly with these sleeves. As I said, this is still early in the treatment, but this seems to be working better then spending hundreds of dollars on physical therapy and professional/custom orthotics. I will write a review in a few months and see if these products keep the splints away. My one qualm with this product is that the cold does not last long enough. Even if totally frozen, they will warm up at about 15 minutes (instead of 20). However, the bonus with this is that they re-freeze within the hour, so very regular icing is possible.

Overall it's a good product. It really takes away the pain, even while running with them on. Just wish they would stay cold a little longer .
