I recently purchased the shoes because I have developed bunionettes, which are bunions/calluses on the little toes. I also have wide feet, which have unfortunately, gotten wider (read: spread out) over the past few years. I also have arthritis and hard to fit feet, with a high arches & short toes, in addition to the extra width & now, the dreaded bunionettes. Some of my favorite shoes (which are already extra wide & usually comfortable) were now rubbing against the bunionettes, hence the need for purchasing some shoes which didn't rub.
I decided to give these Orthofeet Wichita shoes a try. I got size 6.5 WWW, in black, to partially downplay the "clunkiness" of the shoe. When they arrived, they actually look a little larger then they appeared in the photos, so I was glad I had ordered them in black. They do make my feet look bigger than they are, but wow, the feel and comfort was pretty amazing! There is absolutely no rubbing of my bunionettes on the little toes, which was the purpose of the shoe in the first place. I do notice a little bit of slipping in the back, probably because they are the widest width available.. However, I'm going to try a small heel insert to prevent the slippage, and I think that will work fine. The straps, with hook and latch attachment, allows for a customized fit, which is nice, since I will vary whether I wear them with socks, or without. I also like the feel of the stretchy material of the uppers, which provides even more comfort.
I don't plan to wear them all the time, but these FEEL so good, even though they aren't very fashionable. By wearing these new shoes, it will allow me to alternate with my other shoes, giving my feet a needed break!
