Orthaheel Women’s Penny Thong Sandals are podiatrist-designed to help relieve heel pain!

Leading Australian podiatrist Philip Vasyli invented Orthaheel to provide heel pain relief while improving your body alignment, posture and walking gait. Just like the tires on a car, improper alignment of feet can cause wear and tear to other parts of the body… like the knees, hips and lower back. The ingenuity in this thong sandal is the Tri-Planar Motion Control System footbed with contoured arch support and a deep heel cup, which help reclaim your foot’s natural alignment, enabling feet, ankles and legs to function effectively as intended. Overlapping, asymmetrical polyurethane straps and toe post are softly padded to help reduce irritation, and hidden elastic stretch on the straps allows for easy on / off. Textured rubber outsole offers improved traction.

Features & Benefits of Orthaheel Women’s Penny Thong Sandals:

  • Built-in biomechanical footbed helps realign your foot and ankle to a natural position.
  • Soft polyurethane upper feels comfortable against the skin.
  • Textured rubber outsole helps keep you steady as you walk.
  • Deep heel cup helps stabilize the heel.
  • Lightweight EVA midsole cushions and absorbs shock, reducing foot stress.

Poor Fit

Since the shoe comes in whole sizes it was recommended to come down in size since they run large, not in my case too short. Also with the high arch which I thought was a good feature for me since I am flat footed, did not work for me, my foot kept sliding to the outer edge and falling over the shoe. Since I could not wear these back they go. Cute sandle though.

Love this footbed!

I wanted an Orthaheel sandal since the tennis shoe is so great. The toe post took a bit of getting used to, but the toe post covering rotates so you can position the seam to not cut into your foot. The side straps give a little more stability than the flip flops offer. I would have liked more color choices. I got the sand color so my feet might stay cool on the really hot days.

Nice shoe, but has a few issues

  • 4 of 5
I bought these sandals because I have plantar fascitis in one foot, mild arthritis in the other and a high arch, so my feet are pretty achy -- sometimes to the point where I really can't walk around my house barefoot (walking barefoot is a no-no for diabetics anyway). The shoes have a terrific arch support and fit (the recommendations for half-sizes to order down worked as the size 8 fit my 8-1/2 to 9 size foot perfectly). The only issues I had with them concerned the footbed and the underside of the straps. The footbed, while comfortable, could've been a bit better cushioned. I found the design alleviated my problems, but the footbed was a bit too hard for my feet. Had the Ortheheel had this great design, great arch support and a footbed more like the Aerosoles Wip Stitch, I would've been over the moon. Arch support needs to be supportive, but a little softness wouldn't hurt. The other issue was with the underside of the straps, which scratched the tops of my feet. Not sure what could be done about that -- you don't want to have the straps much looser because the shoe will fall off or lose the benefit of that arch support. All in all, it's a good shoe and I'd recommend it. While it wasn't the proper shoe for me, I may try another Orthaheel style.
