In all my years of teaching elementary school (on my feet all day!!!), I haven't found a more comfortable brand to wear than Earth or Earthies. These shoes are absolutely adorable! I got the purple, and they are a great color! The purple might not 100% match every purple I own, as it is a dark purple yet with a hint of raspberry in it (but not pink or bright at all), but it is great as a "pop of color" kind of shoe with jeans and something neutral or contrasting on top or with a dress with a variety of colors.
I wear a 9 1/2 - 10 (more often near the 9 1/2 part of the range) in most brands. I have found that with Earthies (also made by Earth) and Orthaheel, I have needed to go down to a 9 pretty regularly. However, with this shoe, even the 9's were too long. I got 9 wide, and there was plenty of room width wide, without making my foot look like it was swimming (can a shoe be slimming? if so, this was!). But the length was just too long. So much so that they aren't going to work (and trust me, I was willing them to fit pretty strongly! But they would have driven me crazy with my foot slipping out constantly!).
My sister, who is also a teacher and, like me, consistently wears a 9 1/2 or 10 (but more often near the 10 end of the range) tried them on, and like Cinderella, found a perfect fit with this pair. She was incredulous at the level of comfort, as they were her first Earths, but almost wouldn't accept them from me because they were 9's and "she wears a 9 1/2 or 10". They were even just a touch too long, but she was going to put the little heel catcher things in and they will be perfect. The cuteness factor, awesome purple color and opportunity to COPY me and get THE SAME SHOES I was going to get (I will try an 8 1/2) was just too strong :). Now,we will just need to fight over who gets to wear the shoes to family events. Ah, sibling rivalry going strong after more than 40 years! Ha-ha! Actually, couldn't be happier that we will have the same shoe so I can think of her when I wear mine! :). So folks, get over the "number" and order down...for us it was a whole size down from your "most common" shoe size. ( you know you wear a range, so go look at your most common shoe size, and go a full size down from there...) Get over the number and you'll get a great shoe that fits!!!
