Ankle Supports Stabilize Heels, Helping You Avoid Heel Pain

An ankle sprain, usually the result of a fall or injury that “twists” the ankle the wrong way, is a common injury that can affect the soft tissues, typically the ligaments, of the ankle. Ankle sprains are the number one injury concerning the ankle joint.

Acute trauma, injury and other factors and conditions can lead to ankle pain and ankle injuries. But you can relieve and prevent ankle pain/injury by wearing an ankle support.

When Should You Wear an Ankle Support?

An elastic sleeve, contoured ankle support or ankle wrap provides compression – but not stability. If you have ankle pain and swelling, wear an ankle support – but wear a product like an ankle brace if you want to truly help stabilize weak ankles.

Follow these guidelines when wearing an ankle support:
  • Make sure the ankle support is snug, but not tight enough to cut off circulation.
  • Wear your ankle support under or over socks or pantyshoe for as short as a couple of weeks, or as long as you need it.
  • Continue wearing an ankle support as long as there is swelling, any instability of the ankle or pain.
  • Make sure the ankle support conforms well, and is wrinkle-free.
